Design Engineer – Marine

The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their team in a fantastic role focused on the design of bespoke marine components. You will play a crucial part in turning specifications into detailed designs ready for manufacture. This position is ideal for an engineer with a passion for delivering tailored engineering solutions and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. The salary for this role is circa £35,000.

The Role:

  • Design and develop marine shaft line components and propellers.
  • Create detailed designs primarily in 2D, with some 3D CAD work, under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Establish requirements by collaborating closely with customers.
  • Work in conjunction with the Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD is essential; SolidWorks is desirable).
  • Experience in providing technical solutions to design challenges.
  • Confidence in managing projects of varying sizes, timeframes, and complexities.
  • Previous experience designing components and assemblies, preferably within the marine industry.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacture and knowledge of production environments is beneficial.
  • Understanding of design codes and/or classification rules and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Strong mathematical and numerical skills.
  • An engineering qualification or equivalent experience.

Work Schedule:

  • Office-based position with working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Fridays.
  • Lunch break from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.
  • This position is not suitable for home or hybrid working.
