Training & Competence Advisor

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Drive achievement of Training Matrix compliance, supporting the internal Training Team and utilising the outsourced Training Administration service provider.
  • Maintain current relevant Training related knowledge of Industry codes of practice and regional requirements to support the fleet’s global compliance, including marine licencing (STCW), flag state (ISM Code) and Client specific.
  • Support the Training & Competence Manager to ensure the quality of provision of the outsourced Training Administration Service Agreement, reporting achievement against KPIs on a regular basis.
  • Act as an advisor on all aspects of Training, including undertaking training needs analysis, liaising with SDL Department Managers, Rig Managers and offshore stakeholders to ensure training related queries are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Support the Training & Competence Manager with all aspects of Training Matrix revision.
  • Support the effective implementation of the Company Competence Management framework, ensuring effective practices in accordance with the assessment and verification strategies.
  • Act as an advisor to Assessors and Internal Verifiers on all aspects of Competence Assurance in accordance with company competence standards, strategies and procedures.
  • Ensure effective reporting is achieved and provided to the Training & Competence Manager and other key Stakeholders at agreed intervals.
  • Monitor and report on training related deviations and trends, providing feedback to the Training & Competence Manager.
  • Where requested by the Training & Competence Manager, represent at Industry events/forums/work groups, reporting back on relevant Training & Competence related news and industry good practice.
  • Any other duties as required by the Training and Competence Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar position.
  • Current experience of Marine/Drilling industry standard training and competence.
  • Current experience of industry competence standards.
  • Competence Assessor.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with a Drilling Contractor in a Training & Competence role.
  • Experience/knowledge of industry competence management system accreditation (OPITO/IADC).
  • Experience with Electronic Competence Management software applications.
  • Internal Verifier.
  • Proficiency in MS Project.
