Employment Solicitor Opportunity – Aberdeen

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Solicitor to join a highly regarded employment team in Aberdeen, recognised by Chambers UK 2025 and Legal 500. This role focuses on employer-based matters, offering a chance to advise clients on a range of employment law issues and represent them in employment tribunals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on Transactions: Provide guidance on employment aspects of corporate and outsourcing projects
  • Daily Employment Queries: Handle disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Collective Matters: Manage redundancies, integration and TUPE processes
  • Trade Union Matters: Offer advice on trade union issues
  • Tribunal Representation: Represent clients in employment tribunal litigation

What You'll Do:

  • Manage your own caseload and assist with complex cases
  • Deliver high-quality client care
  • Handle both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Work with clients in person and remotely, attending tribunals and court as needed
  • Participate in business development activities
  • Ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, including client verification

Experience:

  • At least four years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in employment law
  • Settlement agreements
  • Constructive, unfair and wrongful dismissal cases
  • Sickness absence issues
  • Discrimination and whistleblowing claims
  • ACAS early conciliation
  • Employment tribunals

Skills:

  • Strong track record of advising clients and representing them in employment tribunals

Abilities:

  • Identify key issues and conduct effective legal merits assessments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-focused approach with the ability to work independently
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Attention to detail, particularly with figures
  • Confidence in making timely, well-considered decisions
  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Word) and ideally familiarity with case management systems
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to assess risks effectively
