Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the operations and management of a large-scale ground mount solar farm project in Perthshire, Scotland. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient installation and operation of the solar farm, driving the project to completion on time and within budget. This is a critical leadership position that requires previous experience in managing solar farm sites, strong project management skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
This position is open to both permanent and contract employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Management: Lead and manage all site activities, ensuring the project is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
- Team Coordination: Oversee subcontractors, site workers, and suppliers to ensure all parties work in harmony and align with the project schedule.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance: Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring compliance with site regulations, industry standards, and local laws. Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor construction processes to ensure quality control procedures are adhered to. Address any issues that may affect the project’s quality or timelines.
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage the site-specific project plan, ensuring timelines, budgets, and resources are effectively coordinated.
- Reporting: Regularly report to senior management on project progress, challenges, and achievements. Provide accurate updates on milestones and any potential delays.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively.
- Logistics Management: Oversee the coordination of materials, equipment, and machinery to the site, ensuring they are delivered and stored in a timely and secure manner.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Project Close-out: Lead the handover of the project once complete, ensuring all documentation, certifications, and reports are submitted and that the client is satisfied with the final product.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on large-scale solar projects, with specific experience in ground-mounted systems.
- CSCS Card
- Knowledge of solar PV technology and its installation, including safety and quality standards.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams, with a focus on safety and performance.
- Project Management: Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Qualifications: Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., SMSTS, SSSTS), and ideally a degree or equivalent in engineering, construction, or a related field.
- Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Perthshire, Scotland.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
- Environmental Awareness: Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability best practices in the energy sector.
- First Aid: A valid First Aid at Work certificate is desirable.
- NEBOSH: NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification is advantageous.
- Renewable Energy Knowledge: Previous experience in renewable energy projects, particularly solar energy systems, would be an advantage.
- Construction Management: Additional qualifications in construction management (e.g., CIOB, APM) would be desirable.
Salary and Benefits
- Permanent Role: The salary for this position is up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
