Secondary Cover Supervisor

Are you a teaching assistant ready to take the next step in your education career? We have a fantastic opportunity available to work as a cover supervisor in a secondary school in the Abergavenny area.

We're seeking an individual with experience, confidence, and a can-do attitude—qualities that are invaluable in a classroom setting. As a Cover Supervisor, you'll be responsible for supporting secondary-aged pupils and covering classes in the teacher's absence.

While the ability to speak Welsh is preferred, it’s not essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Covering secondary classes while the teacher is away
  • Maintaining classroom discipline in line with the school’s policies
  • Building positive relationships with pupils
  • Supporting pupils as they complete work aligned with the national curriculum
  • Upholding the school’s ethos and adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with school staff and following the direction of the leadership team

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A strong understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Experience working in a secondary school setting
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willingness to register
  • A passion for improving educational outcomes for all pupils
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • The ability to support and promote the school’s ethos
