Job Opportunity: Civils Estimator

Our client, a family-owned civil engineering contractor, seeks to enhance its team by appointing an Estimator for a permanent position covering projects across Central Scotland and Perthshire.

Role Overview:

The ideal candidate will work within the commercial team, showcasing commercial acumen and a track record in diverse civil engineering and groundworks packages from an estimating perspective. You should possess robust technical knowledge and demonstrate proficiency in managing a busy workload. 

Reporting to:

  • Senior Estimator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficient registration, control, and administration of tender documentation.
  • Expression of interest in tender opportunities through portals.
  • Thorough review of tender documents, extracting precise information for pricing various types of works.
  • Development of detailed and feasible packages in collaboration with end clients.
  • Production of cost-effective tenders from first principles.
  • Management of simultaneous involvement in multiple projects.
  • Rigorous analysis and pricing of risks.
  • Preparation of tender submission documents and estimating reports.
  • Providing support for proposals and contract management functions.
  • Conducting site visits to assess and measure specific areas.
  • Regular liaison with the management team and on-site teams.
  • Follow-up on submitted tenders and reporting outcomes to management.

 

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Background:
    • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent estimating experience in a similar role.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Substantial and demonstrable experience in civil engineering projects.
    • Preferably, experience in estimating for civils road surfacing projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in first principle estimating.
    • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Other Skills:
    • Strong organisational, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent time management and planning abilities.
    • A valid UK driving licence.
