We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Senior Accountant, in delivering a professional financial advice and support service, ensuring that service managers are provided with timely and relevant financial data to facilitate management decisions.
Location: South Wales based Authority
Set-up: Hybrid
Rate: £25/hour inside IR35
Duration: Initial 3-month contract with potential of extension
Hours: Full-time position
Accountabilities:
- Taking the lead role in coordinating the budget preparation in respect of the Environment department’s budgets
- Contribute to the bi-monthly budget monitoring of the Environment budgets, ensuring they are completed in accordance with the corporate timetable
- To support the Group Accountant in the annual closure of accounts process taking a lead role in coordinating and completing the closure
- To provide financial advice to responsible officers and budget managers including the attendance at working groups
- To annually review and where necessary provide appropriate budget training to responsible officers and budget managers
Person Specification/Experience:
- Full Membership to AAT or equivalent
- Knowledge/experience of spreadsheets (preferably Excel)
- Experience within Local Government is desirable
