About this position:

My Client is looking for a PL Controls Engineer who has the experience and ability to deliver, improve and maintain their manufacturing process for both current and new plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to carry out ongoing programming, troubleshooting and optimisation of both existing and new Control Systems.

Job Requirements:

  • Support Engineering projects with subject matter input throughout the project to efficiently guide the design and delivery process
  • Taking control system requirements and functional specifications from Engineering, create PLC control system logic and code from first principles
  • Own and maintain existing and new PLC control systems and code
  • Lead and implement software system installation, commissioning and functional validation
  • In parallel with PLC programming, create and maintain functional documentation
  • Develop and maintain data historian to enable informed data-driven decision making
  • Develop and maintain SCADA interfaces


Experience Required:

  • A degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or automation engineering, or equivalent level of experience
  • Depending on level of operation; demonstrable experience in relevant programming / automation environment
  • The ability to perform mathematical calculations, such as powers, flows, statistics and controls analysis.
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues. Quickly and efficiently completes tasks.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with less definition, policy, and bureaucracy
  • Demonstrable experience with design / specification of control systems, incl. instrumentation, electrical design and modelling
  • Experience in related industrial areas such as chemical plant, industrial equipment design. Experience in large plant design is particularly beneficial
  • Experience with Siemens PLC or other ladder-code equipment is particularly beneficial
