About the Role:
Based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, my client, a dynamic and progressive business looking for a qualified accountant to join their team as an FP&A Analyst on a permanent basis.
The company has gone from strength to strength and has an excellent position in their market with an innovative product portfolio and a strong pipeline for the future. The FP&A Analyst will be a key link between finance and engineering, having a key role in the annual budget process and responsibility for regular reforecasts and provision of financial information to external stakeholders as well as analysing and reporting divisional profitability.
Main responsibilities of the FP&A Analyst:
- To produce the annual budget with input from stakeholders.
- To produce regular forecasts and reforecasts of company performance as required including P&L, Balance sheet and cash flow.
- To produce detailed analytics around COGs and other expenditure.
- To develop and maintain KPIs around profitability and performance
- To develop the internal reporting capacity to improve visibility of internal divisions and projects.
- To be involved at all stages of contract quoting and costing to ensure that competitive yet profitable rates are used.
- To build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
- To work with the rest of the Finance Team to ensure that statutory and best practice standards are adhered to.
- Perform revenue recognition for the company each month, including assessing percentage of completion for fixed price development projects
- Work closely with project managers and BU heads to ensure revenue and cot recognition in line with the contract terms
- Calculate and assess capitalisation of intangibles for eligible external and internal projects
- To work with other members of the finance team in implementation of finance projects for the department.
The Ideal candidate for the FP&A Analyst:
- The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post-qualification FP&A experience.
- Ability to work independently, being highly self-motivated, in a fast-paced environment.
- An advanced excel user and will be keen to learn new skills to help create efficiencies, ideally with experience of systems implementation or improvement.
- Developed communication (verbal & written) skills with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels across the business.
- Team player with proven ability to work well under pressure, to tight deadlines and handle multiple projects.
- You will have a good understanding of internal costing and pricing.
- Problem Solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions.
