Berry Recruitment are NOW hiring for a committed and experienced Conveyancing Assistant to work for a Legal Firm based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Role: Conveyancing Assistant

Salary: £25,000+ Commensurate with experience

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Hours: Full time/Permanent, Mon-Fri, 9-5, Office Based

Key Responsibilities of the Conveyancing Assistant:

Reporting to the Head of Residential Property, the candidate will be the first point of contact for clients making an initial conveyancing enquiry. They will explain and guide clients through the process, provide quotes, open files and complete relevant compliance procedures before handing over to the fee earner.

  • Handling initial client enquiries
  • Providing quotes for prospective clients using our quotes system
  • Monitoring the quotes system for accepted quotes and follow up.
  • Dealing with enquiries arising from quotes and referring to the appropriate fee earner if necessary
  • Allocating new work to fee earners in accordance with agreed allotment
  • Opening new files on our case management system
  • Carry out Client Due Diligence in accordance with the company's policy and our CQS obligations. This will include (but not limited to) carrying out anti-money laundering checks, requesting source of funds / source of wealth evidence and conflict checks.
  • Providing a consistently high level of client care to form trusted relationship with clients.
  • Ensure high quality communication with the company's internal teams and individuals.
  • To work off own initiative, often independently without close supervision and therefore able to take accountability and responsibility for the early stages of the conveyancing process.
  • Attend relevant team meetings.
  • Reporting faulty equipment / software to appropriate parties
  • Carrying out any other reasonable task that may be requested by the Head of Residential Property
  • Filing
  • To look at ways of improving our quotes process and streamlining our onboarding procedure to make it more efficient and user friendly for our clients.

About you:

  • A confident and client focused individual who has a good understanding of the conveyancing process and can handle initial client enquiries, providing quotes for prospective clients using our quotes system
  • An excellent communicator who will enjoy client contact and building new relationships with clients, internal teams and third parties
  • A person with basic case management experience and someone who will be prepared to implement best practice to streamline the service
  • Someone who can allocate work to fee earners while continuing to build a good rapport with third parties to provide the best possible service to clients
  • Someone who can work full time from our Abingdon office
  • Someone with a strong compliance ethic who can deal with compliance procedures
  • Someone who can adhere to the requirements set out in the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS)
  • Someone who will abide by all company HASAW requirements
