A Primary School in Abingdon, rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted is recruiting for their newest Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Embark on this exciting journey to directly make a positive impact on young KS1/KS2 students to positively instil their love for learning.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant role:

  • Assist classroom activities - Work in partnership with teachers to plan and perform dynamic lessons to pupils, implementing inclusive and creative strategies. 1 to 1 support may be required.
  • Excellent support team - opportunities for progression, essential for aspiring Early Careers.
  • Supporting and nurturing the environment for the Abingdon based students to absorb a solid foundation of their education. Previous understanding of the national KS1 & KS2 curriculum is not essential, ability to adapt to new content is key.
  • Awareness of child safe-guarding and ability to highlight concerns to senior teaching staff.
  • Promote holistic student growth, contribute to creating a safe cohesive classroom.

Key skills/requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS - currently holding a valid on the update service or be willing to undergo the process.
  • Pro-active demeanour, energetic, enthusiastic and caring approach to supporting the Cheltenham based students.
  • Support on a 1-2-1 basis with a pupil with Autism or another with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
  • A strong background in Maths and English is ideal for this role and the Primary school are ideally looking for someone with previous experience with SEN.

Suitable for University graduates, Pre-PGCE qualified students and experienced Teaching Assistants.

UK rights to remain/Visas are required, no sponsorship can be offered.

Experience:

  • Teaching assistant or relevant child-related experience: 1 year (required)
  • Experience in SEN with Primary students (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
  • UK or equivalent degree (preferred)
  • Holds a NQV/equivalent SEN certification (preferred)
  • Has a Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (HLTA) - (required)
