The role of Shift Operations Manager £35,000pa based in our Huncoat Cross-Dock (BB5 6NJ) l is to assist the Site Operations Manager with the smooth overall running of the operation, including the day-to-day responsibility for ensuring all legal and compliance obligations are met regarding O’licence compliance - you will already possess experience and knowledge in being a successful O’licence holder within a distribution environment.

40hrs per week, Monday to Friday. Rotating AM & PM shift.

This role is part of a leadership team on site, which already consists of 2 Supervisors and 3 Team Leaders – you will be reporting into the Site Operations Manager, and collectively you will be leading a local team of transport and warehouse colleagues.

Daily responsibilities include:

Safe & Legal Compliance – full compliance in both transport and health and safety requirements within the operation.

Customer Service – ensure all Key Delivery Service KPIs are met or exceeded.

Leadership & Development – objective setting, team and individual performance reviews and succession planning.

Communication – daily, weekly and month briefs to set the vision.

Cost Control – meeting & generating ideas to reduce operating cost v budget.

Continuous Improvement – support a continuous improvement culture, both within the local operation, and across the network.

Analytical – analysis of business reports & data to improve performance in key areas.

Planning – shifts , routes, deployment plans for the Warehouse & Transport operations.

Managing – teams hours , holidays, performance for warehouse & transport colleagues.

Recruitment – In line with budget requirements , interviewing & supporting the on-boarding process for colleagues.

Experience / Skills & Qualifications Required:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for an experienced Operations Shift Manager with the following skills & experience:

  • CPC – Managers Certificate of Professional Competence – essential.
  • O’licence – proven experience in being an o’licence holder – essential.
  • Previous experience within a transport and distribution environment - essential.
  • Experience of strong leadership of a team to success - essential .
  • Clear communicator – essential
  • Computer literacy – essential.
  • Analytical skills – essential.
  • Previous experience within a 2 person Home Delivery operation – desirable.
  • Good geographical knowledge of London & surrounding areas – desirable.
  • Collaborative working with external suppliers and internal stakeholders – desirable.
