Accrington (commutable from Manchester, Blackburn and surrounding areas)
Salary - 32,000 - 38,000 (depending on experience)

SRG is working with a leading manufacturer of industrial chemicals and materials. Based in the Accrington area, they have recently started hiring for a new member of their R&D team. This opportunity would suit someone with previous industrial chemicals laboratory experience either from a previous job or placement year. The company has a great track record of staff retention and upskilling of employees. If successful you will be joining a large team of highly skilled scientists with opportunities for progression.

Role Description

  • Ensuring raw materials and intermediates are fit for purpose for pilot plant and full scale experiments
  • New product development of advanced material products
  • Safe handling of potentially hazardous chemicals. Conducting risk assessments and adhering to safety data sheets
  • Working closely with customers to ensure products meet specifications and deadlines
  • Solving a diverse set of problems relating to new product development
  • Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to investigate potential issues and provide technical support where necessary


Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry with a focus on industrial or inorganic chemistry
  • Significant recent experience in and R&D role in a relevant industry (polymers, coatings, metallurgy, inorganic synthesis)
  • Ability to travel or relocate to the Accrington area
  • A strong understanding of analytical and physical testing techniques
  • Full right to work in the UK.
