Workshop Manager / Near Chertsey / Up to £50k DoEAre you a skilled workshop professional with a strong background in manual machining and orbital welding? Do you have a passion for precision engineering and innovation? We have an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Manager to lead and enhance our client’s in-house manufacturing capabilities, collaborating with a talented team of engineers to deliver industry-leading calibration solutions.The RoleAs Workshop Manager, you will oversee all workshop operations, with a key focus on manual machining and orbital welding techniques. Your responsibilities will include planning and supervising the production workflow, maintaining high health and safety standards, and mentoring workshop staff. You will play a vital role in developing new manufacturing processes and ensuring the production of high-quality components.What’s in it for you
  • A full-time position (37.5 hours/week) with flexible working hours between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • 23 days of annual leave, including a Christmas shutdown period.

Workshop Manager Responsibilities
  • Oversee workshop operations to deliver components and assemblies on time and to specification.
  • Programme, set, and operate manual machinery, with occasional CNC use.
  • Lead and optimise orbital welding processes to achieve precise and reliable results.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and process improvement.
  • Plan and schedule machine maintenance, tooling, and material requirements.
  • Drive improvements in quality control, inspection procedures, and the Quality Management System (QMS).
Workshop Manager Skillset
  • Extensive experience with manual machining and a strong understanding of traditional machining techniques.
  • Expertise in orbital welding, including setup, operation, and maintenance of orbital welding equipment.
  • Familiarity with a variety of materials such as stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and engineering polymers.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and deliver high-tolerance components with exceptional surface finishes.
  • Knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks or Fusion 360 preferred) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
