Our client, a well-established leader in civil engineering and infrastructure, is renowned for its commitment to staff development, low turnover rates, and focus on renewable projects. They now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Planner to play a key role in the planning and delivery of a major renewable project in Northern Scotland, encompassing key elements such as overhead lines (OHL), cabling, and substations.
Based at the head office in North Lanarkshire, with regular site visits to the Isle of Skye, this role includes a company car and a subsistence package.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop, structure, and lead the project programme, ensuring all activities are effectively planned and scheduled.
- Maintain an accurate, fully linked Primavera P6 project programme in line with contractual requirements.
- Ensure the programme is fully resourced, reflecting any modifications in execution strategy by working closely with the project delivery team.
- Programme Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track progress against the project schedule, ensuring timely delivery of weekly and monthly reports.
- Identify potential risks or delays, implementing mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
- Highlight dependencies and interfaces between stakeholders to ensure smooth project coordination.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a key interface between the planning function and operational staff, facilitating structured meetings and reporting updates.
- Engage with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on project timelines, risks, and deliverables.
- Promote best practices in planning and contribute to the ongoing development of the planning team.
- Continuous Improvement & Risk Management:
- Identify programme risks and opportunities, recommending strategic actions for improvement.
- Support change management initiatives by assessing and incorporating project modifications into the schedule.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving efficiency and innovation in project planning.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience: Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Site Agent, with extensive planning expertise in power transmission projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Primavera P6 and planning techniques, with knowledge of tender and contract documentation.
- Project Management Knowledge: Strong capability in planning, programming, progress monitoring, and risk management.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
- Construction Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the construction market, including methods, equipment, plant, and labour requirements.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.
- Qualifications: A relevant CSCS card is essential.
Desirable:
- Experience working in an NEC3 contract environment.
- Experience in mentoring junior planning staff.
- Knowledge of change management techniques.
