Duties & Responsibilities - Engineering Workshop Technician – Days
The role is responsible for contributing to the manufacturing process, ensuring tooling and moulds are reliable, functional and adhere to quality standards for a high quality manufacturing production process.
- Perform routine repair and maintenance activities, replacing defective/blunt/worn parts, so may involve some fabrication and following some PPM schedules
- Support the Maintenance team by the production/fabrication and assembly of mechanical components, prototypes, jigs and/or fixtures, specifically
- Operating machine tools
- Perform inspections, repairs, adjustments and maintenance of equipment
- Machine maintenance: Ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of workshop equipment, including regular inspections, cleaning, calibration, service/repair management as required
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical issues with machinery to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operations
- Reading and interpreting drawings at a basic level
- Assembly: Assembling components into steel moulds
Requirements - Engineering Workshop Technician – Days
- Knowledge and experience using workshop equipment would be ideal
- Qualified mechanically engineer
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including but not limited to grinders, drill presses, gauges, wrenches, chisels, files, and scrapers.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure the right fix the first time and maintain tidy and safe work areas.
- Collaborative approach to work across departments.
- Qualifications - ideally time served in a mechanical engineering discipline, Level 2 or 3 Mechanical
- Experience of Mechanical PPM, cleaning and rework of Mechanical components
- Communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with team members, suppliers, etc
- Attention to detail
- Adherence to health and safety requirements.
- Adaptability and flexibility to changing task prioritisation
- Ability to perform routine maintenance
- Problem solving – ability to trouble shoot technical issues as they arise
