- Focus on people management, setting clear goals, providing feedback, and supporting team members in their development.
- Act as the liaison between the IT/UX department and business leaders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on priorities.
- Ensure resource planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication are managed effectively to deliver key projects.
- Hands-on Support & Technical Oversight:
- While management is the core focus, be willing and able to get involved in technical problem-solving, system improvements, and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Oversee the evolution and maintenance of the company’s key systems, including the core MySQL, PHP, and Yii2 MVC stack, and Bootstrap 5 front-end interfaces.
- Guide the migration from legacy systems (Node.js, C#, Sage platform) while ensuring continued access to historical data.
- Project Management & Delivery:
- Lead the successful delivery of critical IT and UX projects, ensuring alignment with business needs and that milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Ensure that the user experience for both internal and external systems is optimised, promoting efficiency and usability across the board.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Operations) to deliver seamless and high-quality digital experiences.
- Maintain focus on security, scalability, and efficiency of all systems to support the company’s growth and operational goals.
- Commercial & Communication Excellence:
- Utilise strong commercial acumen to align IT and UX strategies with broader business objectives, particularly around growth, cost-efficiency, and customer experience.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, ensuring they understand project scope, timelines, and outcomes.
- Foster strong relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring that external resources complement the internal team and business goals.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven management experience in a leadership role within IT or UX, with a track record of leading teams and delivering key projects.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering strategic initiatives, especially in IT and UX environments.
- While technical knowledge is important (PHP, MySQL, MVC frameworks), the ability to manage people and projects is paramount.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to align technology strategies with business goals.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical solutions into business terms and managing stakeholder expectations.
- A hands-on approach when necessary, with the willingness to dive into technical challenges while maintaining a clear focus on team and project management.
