Legal Secretary - Family Department

TSR Legal are working with a leading and award-winning Legal 500-ranked law firm, who are now seeking a skilled Legal Secretary to join their Family Department. This is a full-time position, supporting fee earners by delivering efficient, professional, and friendly secretarial and administrative assistance.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic, fast-growing firm that serves both UK and international clients, with a reputation for long-term client relationships and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing general secretarial support, including diary management, digital dictation, and file management.
  • Preparing legal documents such as court forms (e.g., Form E, petitions, general applications).
  • Producing court bundles and preparing briefs for counsel.
  • Handling client enquiries professionally, both in person and over the phone.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Strong administrative skills: Proven ability to maintain accuracy and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Organisational ability: Capable of prioritising workloads from multiple fee earners and managing deadlines with urgency and attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset: Takes initiative to complete routine tasks without prompting and keeps fee earners informed about ongoing administrative work.
  • IT literacy: Comfortable with technology and open to adapting to new systems and processes.
  • Compliance knowledge: Familiarity with anti-money laundering regulations and adherence to legal compliance protocols.
  • Client service excellence: Demonstrates exceptional client care, controls client enquiry calls effectively, and identifies opportunities for upselling in a professional yet approachable manner.
  • Strong communication skills: Builds rapport with colleagues and clients, communicates professionally, and accepts constructive feedback.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in Family law (legal secretarial experience in other areas of law will also be considered).
  • Commercial awareness: Understands the importance of efficiency, compliance, and quality in ensuring excellent client service and contributing to profitability.
