Service Engineer – Covering South UK
Ideal Locations: Reading, Southampton, Crawley, London, Watford, Portsmouth, Chelmsford, Slough, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Guildford, Aldershot, Winchester.
Prior Experience: Inspection, service, maintenance, and repair of capital plant machinery and other similar equipment.
Working Hours: Typically, between 6am – 6pm Monday to Friday (39 hours per week + lots of overtime available), minimal weekend work (rare).
Remuneration: £30,000 – £35,000 + company vehicle + premium overtime rates + company benefits.
Service Engineer Overview:
- Perform service and repair work as instructed and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a high-performance standard of assigned jobs.
- Provide detailed and accurate reports on the condition of customers' equipment after onsite examination.
- Submit completed reports electronically on the day of completion, detailing the condition of inspected equipment along with a list of recommended parts and actions for optimal operation.
- Conduct tests to determine the efficiency of equipment and report findings accurately.
- Investigate mechanical and electrical machine problems in emergency breakdown situations.
- Inform the internal support team of the investigation to enable corrective measures.
- Identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvements while onsite.
- Proactively support sales staff to maximise sales opportunities.
- Support the company’s business objectives proactively and professionally.
Service Engineer Key Skill & Requirements:
- Knowledge of working with different sorts of manufacturing machinery/capital plant machinery and equipment – presses, fabrication equipment, bending machines, furnaces, casting machinery, blasting equipment, CNC machines or similar.
- Capability to examine equipment and provide accurate written assessments, detailing required parts and actions.
- Flexibility to work individually or as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to work in demanding environments, including unsociable hours during the week and/or weekends when needed.
- Willingness to work away from home when required.
- Effective communication with internal service support staff and customers.
- Multi-skilled in electrical fault finding / NVQ level 2 or 18th edition preferred.
- Mechanical (with electrical knowledge) / Engineering apprenticeship / background.
- Full UK driving licence.
