We are looking for candidates interested in a Yard Operative role based at our Aldershot site.

The purpose of the Yard Operative is to ensure that all metals are processed efficiently to maximise operational profitability and carry out all activities necessary to ensure the safe de-pollution of all vehicles that come into the depot for disposal.

Key accountabilities of the Yard Operative include:

  • To be responsible for Health and Safety under the SimsMMway Safety vision, Principles and Policy
  • To contribute towards the efficient running of the operation
  • Ensure vehicle details are accurately recorded throughout de-pollution activities.
  • Ensure all tyres, wheels and batteries are removed prior to de-pollution.
  • Maintain the de-pollution rig, according to the rig maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure the rig, tools and surrounding area are kept in a clean and tidy state at all times.
  • To ensure daily checks are completed
  • To co-ordinate with other site operatives to ensure the correct processing of all loads
  • Ensure that material produced meets the specifications required as directed by the Supervisor
  • Operational use of Mobile Plant duties when required
  • To ensure their working area is kept in a clean and state at all times
  • Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require
  • Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community

Applicants must have a proven track record of having worked in a team with excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate will have sound knowledge of Health and Safety and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. The role requires exceptional organisational skills along with strong written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable and will have integrity and confidentiality.

Forklift licence would be an advantage.
