We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Primary school in Aldershot that supports children aged 4-11 with Autism and Asperger's, including both day and residential students. We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully engage with their learning and school experience. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will provide tailored assistance to meet each student's unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and other SEN.
- Assist in delivering individualised learning plans to support student progress.
- Encourage student engagement, independence, and confidence in learning.
- Support students in classroom activities, ensuring they understand tasks and stay focused.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to adapt teaching materials for different learning needs.
- Monitor and track student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents.
- Ensure students' safety and well-being during lessons, breaks, and school activities.
- Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies, promoting social interaction and inclusion.
Who We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children with SEN is preferred, but passionate individuals looking to develop their skills are also encouraged to apply.
- Understanding of autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other special educational needs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach to supporting children.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A valid DBS check on the update service or willingness to undergo one.
- Ability to commute to Aldershot.
