Role Overview:
The Finance Director is a key member of the Leadership Team, responsible for leading the Finance function and contributing to the strategic direction of the business. This role oversees all aspects of financial management, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, robust financial controls, and compliance with statutory requirements. You will work closely with senior leaders across the business to improve profitability, enhance cash management, and support operational excellence. A strong focus on system-driven information, process improvement, and contract management is essential, along with a proven track record in manufacturing finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic and Commercial Leadership:
- Partner with the Managing Director to drive profitability and cash management, meeting and exceeding group expectations.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to support the business strategy.
- Provide financial analysis to support key strategic decisions, including major customer projects and CAPEX investments.
- Identify and drive cost reduction opportunities across the business.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and group reporting requirements.
- Manage cash flow, cash forecasts, and working capital to optimize financial stability.
- Monitor departmental performance against budgets, working with budget holders to improve adherence to financial targets.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience as a senior financial leader, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in contract accounting, project management, and customer-focused financial analysis.
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and forecasting skills with a track record of improving financial performance.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems, with a focus on driving system improvements and data quality.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement process improvements across an organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders, investors, and external advisors.
