Mechanical Design Engineer - Subsea (Aberdeen, Scotland)

I am seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join a cutting-edge subsea robotics team in Aberdeen. This role will offer the chance to work with advanced underwater imaging systems and provide engineering support for subsea acoustic technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support mechanical and hydraulic systems for subsea acoustic equipment, including design tasks for integration with vessels, ROVs, and other deployment platforms.
  • Develop and enhance design improvement plans, informed by lessons learned from offshore and onshore operations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical drawings, user manuals, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (electrical, geoscience, operations, business development) to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Conduct physical tasks, such as assembly, maintenance, and testing of equipment components.
  • Prepare engineering interface documents for client projects, and assist with tender/client specification reviews.
  • Contribute to buoyancy calculations, mechanical/hydraulic part sourcing, and ensure rigging certification requirements are met.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with marine survey equipment, subsea electronics, hydraulics, motors, and fabrication processes is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for modelling, drawings, and FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Strong design, troubleshooting, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
