Job Summary:
The General UK Freight Manager will oversee the operations, logistics, and management of all freight activities within the UK. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective transportation of goods, compliance with regulations, and the delivery of exceptional service levels to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all freight operations across the UK, including inbound and outbound logistics.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise freight processes, reduce costs, and improve delivery times.
- Ensure compliance with UK transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Negotiate contracts with carriers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
- Monitor and manage freight budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Lead and develop a team of logistics and operations professionals.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline supply chain processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Resolve any issues related to freight transportation, including delays, damages, and customer complaints.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in freight management, logistics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of UK transportation laws and regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and analyse performance data.
- Proficient in logistics software and MS Office.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
