The below job description will outline this position of: Group Technical Manager

Typically, this person will overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance of all ships assigned, owned, and operated by our client. This role involves advising and updating the Chief Technology Officer on ship operations, closely monitoring budgets and expenditures, and ensuring all ships are maintained to a high standard of sea worthiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Duties and responsibilities of the Group Technical Manager):

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all vessel equipment, systems, and structures comply with SOLAS, IMO, Class, and Flag Administrations regulations and guidelines, including environmental legislation.

Technical Department Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Technical Department, ensuring continuity of support for ship staff and other departments.

Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with Classification societies, Port State, and Flag State regarding new requirements or perceived issues.

Support to Vessel Superintendents: Assist and support Vessel Superintendents in maintaining vessels to the required standards, ensuring they remain in 'Class' with maximum availability and within budget.

Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of Engineering Officers and Assistants, addressing any unacceptable practices or behaviors promptly.

Team Coordination: Hold regular meetings with Technical Superintendents and the Chief Technology Officer to discuss budgets, projects, and other operational matters.

Ship Visits: Conduct regular visits to all vessels to ensure compliance and operational standards.

Staff Evaluation: Review and assess the performance of technical staff for annual appraisals and performance bonuses.

Emergency Response: Participate in the Emergency Response Team when required.

Budget Management: Analyse budget and expenditure reports and formulate budgets for ships while overseeing costs.

Inspection and Audit Oversight: Monitor the results of vetting inspections, ensuring prompt closure of all defects, inspection findings, and audit observations.

Continuous Improvement: Oversee the implementation of workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Reporting: Prepare ship condition reports for management and review purchasing performance to identify any shortcomings.

Qualifications and requirement for the Group Technical Manager:

Managerial experience in the offshore support vessel sector is required or similar vessels.

Preferably qualified to Chief Engineer Unlimited standard or a recognised equivalent.

Strong working knowledge of electronic Planned Maintenance Systems and Purchasing systems.

Strong managerial and leadership skills with a professional approach to work.

Ability to work independently and under pressure, with patience to meet tight deadlines.

Excellent verbal communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
