An opportunity is available for an Inspection Engineer (RG2 CAT 2) to join a team based in Aberdeen or Grangemouth.



Key Requirements


Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred, though not essential.
  • Minimum CAT II or equivalent qualification as per RG2.
  • Industry certifications such as PSSR, PSR, ASME, API, and EEMUA are preferred but not mandatory.


Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in inspection engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in the inspection of various systems and components, including pipelines, pipework, tanks, mechanical protective devices, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and fired heaters. Experience across fabrication, design, commissioning, maintenance, inspection, turnarounds, and plant operations within high-hazard refining or petrochemical environments is required.
  • Experience with Tank Inspections is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Previous managerial experience is preferred but not essential, with the ability to act as a deputy inspection technical manager and support the technical manager when required.
  • Experience with computer-based technologies is essential.


Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of inspection standards and legal requirements, including PSSR, PED, Pipeline Safety Regulations, API, ASME, EEMUA, PUWER, and LOLER. This includes a strong understanding of the design, fabrication, purpose, and operation of inspected equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design codes, material properties and specifications, degradation mechanisms, and methods of preventing degradation through design, coatings, maintenance, and operational practices.
  • Familiarity with petrochemical site standards, including COMAH, PUWER, LOLER, HSWA, PED, and DSEAR.
  • A solid understanding of Offshore inspection engineering practices is an asset.
  • Practical knowledge of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) techniques, their applications, and limitations.
