Job Specification: Dispatch Supervisor Precast Concrete Environment

Job Title: Dispatch Supervisor £13 -£14 per Hour Temp to Permanent position

Location: Alfreton

Reports to: Operations Manager

Role Overview

The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the dispatching operations within a precast concrete production facility. The role ensures the accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of products while maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality control, and customer satisfaction. A valid Counterbalance Forklift license is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch Operations

Coordinate daily dispatch schedules to meet customer delivery requirements.

Supervise the loading and unloading of precast concrete products to ensure compliance with weight and safety regulations.

Collaborate with production, logistics, and transport teams to ensure products are dispatched correctly and on time.

Coordinate and manage dispatch staff, including drivers and yard operatives, ensuring clear communication and task delegation.

Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.

Equipment and Yard Management

Operate a Counterbalance Forklift to assist in loading, unloading, and yard operations as needed.

Maintain an organised and safe dispatch yard, ensuring efficient vehicle flow and minimizing product damage.

Health & Safety

Enforce all safety protocols, including proper lifting and securing of heavy loads.

Conduct regular safety inspections of dispatch areas and equipment.

Report and address any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

Customer Service and Communication

Act as the main point of contact for delivery-related queries and concerns.

Ensure accurate and timely communication with customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.

Resolve customer complaints or issues in a professional manner, ensuring a positive outcome.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

Valid Counterbalance Forklift license with experience operating in a heavy industrial environment.

Proven experience in a dispatch or supervisory role within a manufacturing or construction-related environment (preferably precast concrete).

Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to heavy goods handling and transportation.

Desirable

Experience with logistics management software or ERP systems.

Understanding of precast concrete products and their handling requirements.

Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Working Conditions

Full-time position, Monday-Friday05:00am to 13:30pm
