Finance Business Partner

North Derbyshire

£60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits

Permanent | Manufacturing Sector

Eaton Syalon is partnering with a highly successful manufacturing business (approx. £100 million Turnover Group) based in North Derbyshire to recruit a Finance Business Partner with a deep understanding of the manufacturing sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the costing processes in a growing business, with a clear opportunity to expand your remit into wider business partnering across the group.

The role has become available due to a planned retirement, ensuring a smooth transition with comprehensive handover support.

This is more than a technical costing role - it’s a chance to truly partner with operations, translating the numbers into meaningful insight and driving improved performance. You'll be the key link between finance and operations, ensuring costing and inventory processes are robust, and variance analysis is understood at every level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the standard costing system, ensuring BOMs, standard rates, and cost inputs are accurate and up to date.
  • Perform and review month-end close processes, including full P&L ownership to gross margin, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Investigate and report on PPV, production recoveries, and job variances, highlighting key drivers (price, volume, mix) and partnering with operations to drive improvements.
  • Work within IAS 2 and FIFO inventory valuation, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Develop and improve financial costing models to support decision-making and investment appraisals.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, partnering with the Financial Controller to ensure robust plans aligned with operational realities.
  • Take ownership of inventory valuations, provisions, and obsolescence reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with operational teams, bringing financial insights to life and helping drive better cost control, efficiency, and profitability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or Qualified by Experience, with proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth experience in standard and absorption costing is essential.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and the ability to manipulate and analyse data (advanced Excel skills essential).
  • Commercial mindset - able to translate numbers into action, collaborating with non-finance colleagues to drive operational improvement.
  • Comfortable managing complex data and extracting meaningful insights to support decision-making.
  • Strong business partnering skills - able to build relationships across finance and operations, challenging where needed while offering solutions and support.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to shape and improve costing processes and be a key voice in business performance discussions. You will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering closely with a supportive Financial Controller and senior leadership team.
