We are currently seeking 2 x Ramp Agents to join the team at Sumburgh Airport for our client, the largest regional airline in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

The Ramp Agent will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and safe ground handling operations. Key responsibilities include:

Load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail safely and securely.

Ensure accurate routing and sorting of baggage to respective aircraft.

Guide aircraft during arrival and departure using hand signals and communication devices.

Direct aircraft to designated parking stands using safe marshaling techniques.

Assist in the loading and unloading of passenger baggage, cargo, and equipment.

Safely operate ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, loaders, and conveyor belts.

Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the ramp area, including debris removal.

Conduct routine checks on GSE to ensure operational readiness and report any defects or damages.

Provide courteous and helpful assistance to passengers with special needs or inquiries.

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with passengers.

Skills and Attributes:

Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and effective communication skills.

Have a strong understanding of aviation regulations, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.

Strong situational awareness to assess and understand weather conditions, risks, or challenges.

Experience:

Knowledge of ramp operations and ground handling procedures is an advantage.

Experience working in a safety-critical environment.

Basic computer skills for using electronic devices and systems.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Contract Information:

This is initially a contract role with the potential for permanent employment with our client.

Average of 40hsrs per week,

The role involves a mixture of shifts; early shifts from 0630hrs to 1530hrs and late shifts from 1300hrs to 2200hrs.

Hourly rate of £11.88, plus a distance allowance ranging from £2,500 to £5,000 per annum.
