Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Job youll do

  • Create conceptual design work in support of bearing tenders, and detail design work for contracts and new product development.
  • Produce and manage models and engineering drawings within the companys computer aided design (CAD) systems.
  • Perform bearing performance calculations using specific software.
  • Perform structural strength of materials calculations to support bearing designs.
  • Participate in design review meetings.
  • Liaise with other departments, customers and suppliers in support of the above tasks.
  • Prepare lists of parts that form the framework for a bill of materials.
  • Generate and transfer the required departmental design documentation.
  • Maintain component part records in the company database systems, as well as other documents required by business quality system processes.
  • Create the most cost effective designs.
  • Work in a safe manner and lead by example with regard to the companys health, safety and environmental policies.

About You

  • To apply, you must be educated to HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the strength of materials.
  • We also ask that you have experience of designing castings, fabrications and precision machined, close-tolerance, turned and milled components.
  • Familiarity of international standards or directives related to the design and testing of products for use in naval, nuclear and hazardous area applications would be beneficial.
  • Were looking for someone who has excellent 3D CAD modelling and 2D technical drawing skills (preferably Creo or Pro/Engineer).
  • An understanding of MathCAD, Windchill and Microsoft Office applications.
  • This position will be on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours a week onsite.
