The Costs Lawyer Standards Board (CLSB) regulates Costs Lawyers in England and Wales under the framework of the Legal Services Act 2007. Costs Lawyers are experts on the subject of legal costs, providing specialist advice in a niche area of law.

We are seeking to appoint a high-performing, proactive CEO to lead our small collaborative team, working flexibly three days per week. This is a part-time, permanent position reporting to the Chair of the CLSB board.

You will lead all aspects of the CLSB’s regulatory and operational activities, in line with the organisation’s statutory remit and objectives. Working in pursuit of our existing mid-term strategy, which applies until 2027, there will be considerable scope for you to apply your creativity and experience in shaping the organisation for the coming years.

Reporting to the board, you will have day-to-day responsibility for the CLSB’s performance. You will manage a small team of talented and dedicated staff and expert consultants, supporting them to deliver a high-quality regulatory service in the interests of Costs Lawyers, their clients, the wider public and the justice system.

The role offers a rare combination of flexibility, autonomy, seniority and challenge for the right candidate.

Please see the information pack on our vacancy webpage for full details of the role, including the CEO’s key responsibilities and person specification.
