Job Title: Qualified Solicitor

Location(s): Leicester, Coventry, Derby, Nottingham, Stratford upon Avon, Birmingham

Accountable to: Managing Partner

Responsible for: Trainee Solicitors, Paralegal and Administrative team (when appropriate)

Salary: £30 - £45k

Hours of Work: Monday Friday 9am 5pm

Type: Fulltime Permanent Office Based (Potential for Hybrid)

We are looking for Qualified Conveyancing and Private Client Solicitors to join a well established firm with opportunities across the midlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Solicitor with a few years of PQE and leadership experience under their belt. You will be responsible for delivering agreed departmental business plans and targets, ensuring transactions are performed professionally and compliant with the SRA code of practice to further enhance the firms reputation of exceptional, high quality service.

Responsibilities of a Qualified Conveyancing/ Private Client Solicitor:

Departmental Management:

  • Supporting the management of the department on a day-to-day basis
  • Communicating the business plan with the team, ensuring that they understand what is required, targets and their individual contributions
  • Supporting the performance management of team Quality and Quantity of work etc.
  • Supervising and delegating to trainee solicitors, paralegals and legal secretaries as required.
  • Weekly review of matters meetings with the designated Director
  • Supporting monthly meetings in order to review and update on progress to-date
  • Administrative duties can include but arent limited to; Completion of time sheets, reviewing files and sign off for archive
  • Ensuring Compliance with SRA code of Practice

Fee Earning:

  • Identifying and developing new revenue streams
  • Meeting and interviewing clients to establish the firms suitability to provide necessary advice and services
  • Advising Clients on the law and legal issues related to their case, whilst taking clients instructions
  • Negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives, supervising the implementation of these agreements and checking all documentation prior to signing.
  • Taking Referrals from clients and referring them to the appropriate departmental heads when required
  • Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the law
  • Drafting documents, letters and contracts tailored to the clients needs
  • Analysis and research documents and case law ensuring accuracy
  • Correspondence with both clients and opposing solicitors
  • Accepting referrals from other firms when they do not have a specialist practitioner available or a conflict of interest has arisen.

Requirements of a Qualified Conveyancing/ Private Client Solicitor:

  • Qualified Solicitor with several years of post-qualification experience in conveyancing or private client is a must.
  • Proven track record in the delivery and attainment of targets both individually and as a wider group
  • Evidence of previous Team Management experience would be preferred
  • Knowledge of Case management software and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate responsibly and fairly
  • Ability to work independently whilst demonstrating initiative and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with both clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst planning and prioritising and coping with conflicting demands
  • Demonstrated ability to network effectively to develop and expand the private client department.
