Network Security Engineer - Automotive Industry - Relocation to Ireland
Location: Dublin (Hybrid)
Salary: €60,000 - €80,000 (Depending on Experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the cyber security team of a leading automotive manufacturer.

We are looking for a Network Security Engineer who will play a pivotal role in protecting critical infrastructure, systems, and networks, ensuring robust security measures in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate as part of a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC), working in rotating 10-hour shifts (including weekends).
  • Utilise security tools like Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel to monitor and analyze network traffic and events, detect anomalies, and enhance threat detection capabilities.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations into security incidents using advanced cybersecurity tools and methods, including threat intelligence platforms and boundary protection systems.
  • Manage and respond to network security incidents, providing containment, eradication, and recovery efforts in line with incident response protocols.
  • Track, document, and manage security events through the internal ticketing system, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-up on remediation activities.
  • Proactively engage in threat hunting activities to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities within network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and resolution of security incidents.
  • Develop and maintain security playbooks, incident response plans, and technical documentation to streamline processes and improve response efficiency.
  • Mentor and train junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Security+, GCFA, GCIH, CASP, or GCFE are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in cybersecurity operations, with a focus on network security in large-scale environments, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Proficient in SIEM tools like Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel for monitoring, detection, and analysis of security events.
  • Strong technical expertise in network security, including secure architecture design, incident detection, and response.
  • In-depth understanding of networking protocols (DNS, HTTP, SMB) and experience investigating vulnerabilities like SQL injection and cross-site scripting.
  • Ability to assess risks and provide actionable remediation plans to safeguard network infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in technical documentation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of security risks and solutions.
