Environmental Manager - Renewable Energy - Glasgow - Salary £40,000

CBW are delighted to be working with a renewable energy client to source a newly created position of an Environmental Manager. The Environmental Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that our Company complies with environmental regulations, minimises our carbon footprint, and implements sustainable practices. As well as ensuring the Company is compliant with ISO14001 standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to address environmental challenges, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency and pollution control.
  • Effectively influencing the decision of operations management in regard to environmental protection and management.
  • Creating and implementing policies related to sustainability, waste management and chemical control.
  • Conducting audits, assessing environmental impacts, gathering data and recommending improvements.
  • Educating employees about environmental issues and responsibilities and creating a culture of environmental awareness within all business practices.
  • Making changes to the company information management system and for determining that all requirements are met at each stage of the process by liaising effectively with all relevant parties in a troubleshooting capacity.
  • Coordinating waste management, identifying and implementing recycling initiatives, pollution controls and safe waste disposal methods.
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies such as the environment agency as and when required.
  • Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Responsibility for carbon reporting, net zero targets and other aspects of the companies environmental management system.
  • Identifying and researching new renewable technologies and energy sources and the exploration and
    potential of introducing sustainable energy options for the business and its clients.
  • Preparing and the delivery of environmental presentations to third parties we work with such as councils, social landlords, schools and colleges as part of our community benefit offerings.
  • Ensuring installation projects are carried out in line with environmental legislation and best practices are complied with.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives relevant to the business.
To be considered:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • The ability to take the lead on projects with experience of managing projects from start to completion.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant company quality, environmental and health & safety policies, procedures, instructions and risk assessment systems.
  • The ability to inspire and build confidence in knowledge of environmental issues and impacts.
  • Good time management skills with an attention to detail and a methodical approach to working in a busy and changing environment.
  • A degree or HND in an environment related subject, such as environmental sciences,environmental management, geography, environmental health.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with management systems standards, including ISO9001, 14001 and ISO45001.
  • A genuine interest and understanding of environmental issues, relevant legislation and renewable energy sources.
