Band 5 Paediatric Nurse

Location: Somerset

Salary: £20 - £35 per hour

The company are looking for enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Paediatric Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality care to the children of Somerset and surrounding area.

The core paediatric inpatient provision is located at Devon (including high dependency beds and Paediatrics Assessment Unit (PAU) The children's ward is designed to be welcoming and friendly putting children and young people at ease. The trust strives to provide the children and their families with a positive experience during their stay.

The Role

  • Provide direct patient care to paediatric patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of paediatric duties to assess and address patient needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain BLS Certification to respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Adhere to NMC guidelines and standards to deliver high-quality care to paediatric patients.

Skills and Qualifications

Key skills and Attributes:

  • You must have the ability to manage your time well and prioritise tasks, communicate effectively to all ages, show resilience and work well as part of a team and independently. A willingness to develop is key, along with the ability to maintain high professional standards with an element of fun.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Children's Nurse.
  • A minimum of six months of post-qualification experience as a Registered Children's Nurse within the preceding three years is required at the time of application.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based Children's Nurse practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centred care.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to undergo a DBS check.
  • Completion of mandatory training relevant to the role (e.g. BLS, Manual Handling, Infection Control, Health and Safety, Safeguarding Adults and Children, and etc).
