About the role:

We are looking for a LGV Driver / Plant Machine Operative to join the team within our Kemsley Paper Mill facility, ensuring all work is completed to a standard set out by our clients with maximum efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow instructions from the Line Manager and complete tasks efficiently, in compliance with the law and company interests.
  • Operate machines, equipment, and plant as instructed, following company policies, procedures, and appropriate training.
  • Transport waste materials from designated areas to specific on-site locations using appropriate vehicles and equipment.
  • Load materials and waste as directed, ensuring all lorries, bins, and containers are filled promptly while keeping the site clean and tidy.
  • Complete all required reports accurately and on time.
  • Perform driver maintenance checks at proper intervals and report any faults in vehicles, equipment, or containers immediately using the approved system.
  • Report any accidents involving vehicles, equipment, or personnel to the Contract Manager immediately and complete the necessary forms.
  • Operate roll-on/roll-off vehicles, skip lorries (off-road driving), loading machines (e.g., shovel, telehandler, materials handler), and sweeper vehicles as required.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, including regular jet washing, and ensure vehicles are in good condition.
  • Conduct shift handovers and walk-around checks at the start and end of each shift.
  • Assist with general site operations and perform basic maintenance duties.
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures, including those in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, and any financial/accounting systems.
  • Always prioritise your own Health and Safety and that of colleagues, ensuring proper PPE is worn at all times in line with the companys Health and Safety Policy.

About you:

Essentials:

  • HGV Class 2 licence
  • Experience operating plant machinery, such as telehandlers, loaders, or forklifts.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
