Senior Safety Engineer

Copello are pleased to be partnered with a major defence and aerospace organisation based nearby to High Wycombe, recruiting for a Senior Safety Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

Joining an established and key business unit (airworthiness & safety), the Safety Engineer will be undertaking product safety management activities and providing advice on Product Safety matters to project teams to ensure all safety requirements are correctly defined and meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Day to day responsibilities will include;

  • Lead and guide on safety management activities
  • Work closely with the Head of Airworthiness and Safety to upkeep and monitor the safety management systems
  • Represent the safety department at both customer reviews and internal design meetings
  • Oversee all safety documentation, including generation, review and approvals
  • Support the Head of Airworthiness & Safety with the development and implementation of in house training company wide
  • Manage and lead proactive safety reporting

To be considered, the Senior Safety Engineer will have demonstrable experience within a similar role (ideally within Aerospace or Defence).

Other key experience and knowledge must include;

  • ARP 4754 and ARP 4761 guidelines for safety standards
  • Safety engineering in design and working with cross functional teams
  • Specific aviation safety standards including Def Stan 00-056 and Mil Std 882
  • Regulatory compliance and managing programmes in line with regulatory responsibilities
  • Product safety management (ideally antennas, radios, EW, complex radio systems etc)

This position is based nearby to High Wycombe and will offer a highly attractive flexible working pattern.

It is an essential requirement for the Safety Engineer to be eligible for security clearance (UKSC).
