We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in Kempston. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), fostering their development, and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Weekly Rate: £460 - £500

Key Responsibilities of a PMLD Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide personalized one-to-one and small group support for students with PMLD.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, ensuring dignity and safety at all times.
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
  • Work closely with the SEN team to track progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
  • Utilize specialist equipment and resources to facilitate engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support holistic student development.

Requirements of a PMLD Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
