Job Title: Solutions Architect

Day rate: £600pd - £650pd Inside IR35

Location: Remote (occasional travel to Glasgow when needed)

Duration: Circa 6-Months (likely extension)

About the Role

Leading bank is looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join their IT team, dedicated to enhancing the bank's data capabilities for credit risk analysis. You will play a key role in extracting and integrating data from Calypso, our Credit Risk platform, hosted on Azure, to deliver valuable insights to trade and business users across the bank.

You'll be working closely with Business Analysts to establish the most effective data retrieval methods and distribution strategies.

This is a collaborative role requiring interaction with Enterprise Architects, project stakeholders, and third-party vendors to design and govern solutions. The successful candidate will also contribute to design workshops and forums, as well as peer review of colleagues' work.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to shape and deliver solutions that align with the bank's target state for Payments, Fraud, and Financial Crime systems.
Provide hands-on technical leadership and solutions design on key projects, ensuring robust recommendations.
Oversee design governance to ensure alignment with high-level designs, addressing the impact of change requests.
Run design forums with development, operations, and business stakeholders.
Distribute designs for approval, presenting them at formal review clinics.
Support Virgin Money's internal improvement initiatives to enhance Solutions Design capabilities.
Estimate Solution Design costs to inform business cases.

Required Experience

Azure Cloud Expertise: Strong understanding of cloud platforms, especially Azure.
Banking Experience: Preferably with experience in high-street banks (e.g., LBG, Barclays, NatWest, Santander, HSBC).
Solution Architecture: Proven experience in solution architecture, especially in cloud environments.
Technical Background: Knowledge in Messaging & Middleware, Microservices, and Data Streaming.
SDLC Knowledge: Familiarity with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to work closely with both business and technology stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

Calypso Platform: Experience with Calypso is a plus, though not essential.
Payments, Fraud & Financial Crime Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with core banking, payments, and fraud systems.
Support & Planning: Ability to drive project scope, delivery shape, and scheduling.
