Your new companyHays are working with a pioneering leading Public Sector Organisation to recruit an Employment Solicitor for the Corporate services.Your new roleIn your new role you will work independently, under the guidance of a Senior Solicitor, to provide high-quality legal services across the organisation. You will offer expert legal advice, assistance, and representation on various employment law matters. Additionally, you will support the delivery of a modern, professional, and responsive legal service aligned with the organisation's core vision and values.Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking and assisting in the provision of professional and timely expert legal advice and representation on a wide range of employment matters, including non-contentious advisory work and acting in defence of employment related proceedings.
  • Carrying out research into legal issues and providing strategic and timely opinion papers and advice to clients.
  • Liaising with, attending and advising clients and third parties and accepting new instructions as directed.
  • Drafting tribunal proceedings/pleadings, collating discoveries, assisting in the preparation of witness statements, preparing briefs for counsel and trial bundles.
  • Working with other members of the legal Services team and providing advice and assistance in respect of ongoing general litigation, as and when the need arises.
  • Undertaking and being responsible for the management of their own caseload.
  • Providing a high level of internal and external customer service, including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and following issues through to completion, while ensuring timely escalation where required.
  • Ensuring continued and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing appropriate business cases, tenders and quotations, in line with financial and procurement regulations, policies and procedures and corporate timescales.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification.
  • A solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland qualified to practice in Northern Ireland.
  • Minimum 3 years PQE.
  • Experience dealing with a range of employment law matters.
  • Strong understanding of Industrial Tribunal practice and procedure in Northern Ireland.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality focus.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of working in teams or individually.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Experience managing clients and internal stakeholders.
