Head of Sales - Improve water quality and our environment across the UK!

Morva Recruitment is representing a leading company looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Sales within the Water industry. Due to healthy and sustained growth, this newly formed role will head up all business development, sales, and proposal activities, and be a part of the Operational Management Team.

As the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans, managing a team of market managers and area managers, and ensuring the successful delivery of proposals and projects. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining awareness of UK Water business plans, compiling 5-year strategies, and leading tender gatekeeping. An opportunity to improve water quality across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop 5-year strategies and annual plans aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Project Gatekeeping: Actively manage project tenders, deciding what to pursue and what to decline.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and line management for Market Managers (Stormwater, Biosolids, and Cleanwater) and Area Managers.
  • Proposal Management: Oversee the quote preparation/proposals sub-team.
  • Market Management: Manage market segments without a dedicated manager.
  • Collaboration: Work with the Management team to ensure sales awareness of business capacity, validate contracts/orders, and ensure smooth transition to project delivery.
  • Client Engagement: Attend conferences, organise presentations, and make client visits for sales presentations and solution pitches.
  • Growth: Drive growth in turnover and margin through increased sales and client range.
  • Financial Performance: Own segment financial performance, influencing proposals and pricing.

Reporting Obligations:

  • Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental Concerns: Report any QHSE concerns.
  • Sales Forecasting: Provide regular updates on sales opportunities, client visits, and progress against plans.
    • Weekly: Team updates on live opportunities and tender deadlines.
    • Monthly: Updates in CRM for forward planning, key client visits, and progress reports.
    • Annually: Year-ahead forecast for planning and budget purposes, progress against 5-year strategy.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within the Water, Utilities, or Infrastructure sectors is essential as you will need to display Technical knowledge.
  • Strong strategic planning and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and develop effective sales strategies.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools.

Location:South West or West of London towards Birmingham. Will be required to attend regular meetings in Cornwall, Ireland and Scotland.
