SALARY - £40,000 - £48,000 per annum
We are looking for a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is integral to enhancing production efficiency, implementing new processes, and driving innovation within the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development & Optimization Design, implement, and refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, repeatability, and scalability. Lead process improvements from initial concept through to full implementation, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Technology & Innovation Research and integrate new manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, and advanced fabrication methods such as cutting, welding, and forming. Align process innovations with strategic business objectives.
- Project & Change Management Plan and execute projects related to process improvements, new product introduction (NPI), and technology integration. Manage project timelines, scope, and budgets while coordinating with key stakeholders.
- Engineering Design & Specifications Develop technical requirements for production tooling, jigs, and fixtures. Work closely with internal design teams and external suppliers to deliver optimized solutions.
- Process Validation & Risk Management Conduct validation and testing of new or updated processes to ensure quality and performance standards are met. Identify and address potential manufacturing risks to ensure seamless transition from development to production.
- Sustainability & Efficiency Initiatives Identify opportunities for waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainability improvements within the manufacturing environment. Implement process changes with minimal impact on existing workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, quality assurance, and procurement teams to facilitate smooth process adoption. Serve as a key technical contact for NPI projects, ensuring customer requirements are met during the transition to full-scale production.
- Documentation & Training Maintain detailed process documentation, including specifications, validation reports, and design records. Provide training and support to ensure effective implementation of process improvements across teams.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a relevant apprenticeship, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives from concept to execution.
- Experience in the design and development of tooling, jigs, and fixtures, with the ability to produce and interpret technical specifications.
- A background in manufacturing process optimization, automation, or Industry 4.0 technologies is advantageous.
