Field Service Engineer

Orion Rail are looking for a Duel Skilled Field Service Engineer to join a respected rail rolling stock maintenance company. This company is dedicated to ensuring rolling stock's safety, efficiency, and reliability through comprehensive maintenance and support.

Are you a Dual Skilled Field Service Engineer looking to contribute to this companys mission in delivering excellence in rail engineering nationally.

Main responsibilities for the Field Service Engineer:

Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance:

As the duel skilled engineer your main duties will be to perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on rolling stock, utilising both mechanical and electrical skills to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standard

Diagnosis and Troubleshooting:

Utilise mechanical and electrical expertise to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to rolling stock systems and components, providing effective and timely solutions.

Collaboration and Coordination:

Work collaboratively with a team of engineers and technicians to coordinate and execute maintenance schedules, combining mechanical and electrical knowledge for optimal results.

Performance Testing and Quality Assurance:

Conduct performance testing and quality checks on rolling stock systems and components, utilising dual skills to ensure optimal functionality and safety.

Documentation

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment status, adhering to company protocols and contributing to effective organisational processes.

On Call Support

Participate in on-call rotations to provide emergency support, applying dual skills for efficient problem resolution during critical situations.

Communication and Collaboration:

Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams, effectively communicating and collaborating to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction, leveraging both mechanical and electrical expertise.

Qualifications required for the Field Service Engineer:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum requirements NVQ / City and Guilds Level 3

Full apprenticeship in a Mechanical, Electrical discipline

Skills for the Field Service Engineer:

Proven experience as a Dual Skilled Rolling Stock Engineer or in a related role in the rail industry.

Strong knowledge of rolling stock systems, mechanical and electrical components, and maintenance procedures.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities and hands-on approach to technical challenges, utilising dual skills for effective solutions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Understanding of safety regulations, compliance, and best practices in the rail industry.
