Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer ready to make an impact in a challenging and rewarding industrial environment?

We are looking for a dynamic Lead Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of engineering standards and mechanical integrity within one of our critical sites. This role is tailored for a skilled professional with a passion for safety, innovation and driving high performance within a multi-disciplinary team.

About the Role:

As Lead Mechanical Engineer you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of all mechanical systems on site. From maintaining and auditing standards to leading a dedicated maintenance team, you will be at the forefront of operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and upholding engineering standards with a focus on equipment integrity and operational safety
  • Leading the installation and maintenance of essential mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry legislation
  • Manage maintenance plans including shutdowns
  • Contractor management
  • Collaborating with engineers, management and external stakeholders to implement cutting-edge technologies and drive cost-effective solutions
  • Spearheading continuous improvement projects, including the integration of CMMS systems and strategic maintenance practices

You will also influence the future of safety by driving the adoption of new technologies and setting best practices that enhance reliability and compliance across operations.

Requirements:

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who's technically adept and has a strong background in a heavy industrial setting such as a mine, quarry, tunnel or similar heavy industrial environment

  • Completion of a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship with circa 10+ years of experience, and/or a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership in multi-disciplinary team settings, ideally with experience in quarrying, mining or similar heavy industries
  • Experience of Conveyors, Hydraulics and large Diesel plant
  • Strong safety management skills with a proactive approach to safety as a core value
  • A track record of strategic problem-solving and the ability to drive both innovation and practical solutions.
