Role: Lead Piping & Mechanical Engineer
Location: Cheshire - Hybrid (with some travel as required)

We are working with a leading engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Lead Piping & Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Runcorn. You will provide technical and design authority for piping and mechanical engineering projects across multiple client sites, ensuring compliance with engineering legislation and delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Act as technical and design authority for piping and mechanical engineering
  • Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work, and pipe specifications
  • Review piping and mechanical designs for compliance with engineering standards
  • Ensure design reviews are conducted throughout all projects
  • Estimate new scopes of work and review supplier quotations
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables meet specifications, time lines, and budgets
  • Provide guidance to designers, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues
  • Support procurement activities and ensure timely delivery of items
  • Review vendor drawings and QA packs to ensure compliance
  • Travel to client sites as needed to support project and engineering needs

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in the Chemical and Oil & Gas sectors is preferred
  • Expertise in static equipment, piping, vessels, and rotating equipment
  • Knowledge of industry standards
  • Familiarity with high hazard sites and relevant pressure regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal reports
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office) and any 3D modelling skills are desirable.
