You will join a specialist division in Cheshire which is a site of strategic national importance to the UK. The chemicals produced at the site are sold into a wide variety of industrial applications across sectors such as water, construction, electronics and pharmaceuticals.

The Role

As an Experienced Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and advancing the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our plant operations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead transformative projects, drive improvements, and directly influence the safety and sustainability of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Safety Leadership: Lead HAZIP/HAZOP studies, LOPA and SIL assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Dispersion Modelling: Conduct advanced modelling to evaluate and mitigate risks effectively
  • Safety Case Development: Prepare and demonstrate safety cases for regulatory submissions, showcasing your expertise in safety management systems
  • Plant Improvement Projects: Drive innovative plant improvement initiatives, enhancing efficiency, reliability and sustainability
  • Commissioning: Oversee the commissioning of new systems and processes, ensuring safety and performance excellence
  • Procedure Enhancement: Continuously refine and improve current procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Share best practice with industry professional bodies

Skills / Experience:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Process Engineer in a chemical manufacturing environment, ideally within an upper-tier COMAH facility (5-10 years)
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulations with hands-on experience working with HSE and Environmental Agency
  • Proficiency in hazard study leadership, HAZOPs, hazard analysis, LOPA, SIL assessments and dispersion modelling
  • Ability to lead plant improvement projects
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for driving continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with cross-functional teams and regulators.
