Job Title: Purchasing Assistant

Location: Ashington RH20 2LW

Salary: £30,000 per annum plus bonus

As a family-run company established in the 1970's, we have extensive construction industry experience. We offer nationwide next-day delivery on products in stock, and have a team of specialist engineers who can service and repair all attachments brands.

Key Duties:

  • Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs
  • Research potential vendors
  • Liaise with suppliers to get quotes
  • Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate best costs
  • Place orders to support Sales and Production
  • Track orders to ensure timely delivery in line with the needs of the business
  • Responsible for purchase orders maintenance
  • Negotiate best value in all transactions
  • Maintain updated records in company system
  • Build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally
  • Process suppliers returns

About you:

Key Competencies:

  • At least 3 years' experience working as a Purchasing Assistant or similar role
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Hands-on experience with purchasing software
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and good general knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of market research
  • Solid organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fast learner
