Your new companyOne of Northern Ireland's premier construction contractors is now recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor. This company has been at the forefront of the construction industry for over 150 years, and has produced some of the flagship projects in the region. Operating in the healthcare, education, industrial, and retail sectors, they have produced projects up to £150m in value. Due to continuing expansion, and the winning of several new projects, this contractor is now recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their prestigious Commercial Team based in Belfast.

Your new roleYou will be working as an integral part of the business as part of the Commercial Team working on a variety of projects across NI and the UK. Your main responsibility will be negotiating and concluding a contract for the supply of work, goods, materials and services. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will monitor contract progress against the agreed programmes, control costs against agreed budgets/end cost forecasts, prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts, prepare and agree any necessary claims for reimbursements and for loss and expense. The value of projects will vary, ranging from £5m to £50m, working on forms of contract with NEC and JCT, including full design and build requirements. This post will be based in Belfast and will require regular travel throughout the UK, typically 2-3 days per week.

What you'll need to succeedThe successful candidate will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or stem from a construction-related discipline. Due to the location of projects, you must be flexible with regard to UK travel. You will have at least 8 years pre- and post-contract experience in a Quantity Surveying role working on build projects. You will be self-sufficient with a proven track record of running similar-sized projects by yourself. A strong commercial attitude and excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be dealing with subcontractors and clients on a daily basis. You must be ambitious and keen to establish yourself as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a large main contractor who will be offering you a long-term view.
