Your new companyHays are partnering with a public sector organisation to recruit for a temporary Receptionist with Cashier duties based in Larne to provide a wide-ranging, professional and customer led Reception service to all users.

Your new role

  • Manage reception area, assist visitors, contractors, and staff, and provide directions.
  • Handle reception desk inquiries, provide information on services and events.
  • Answer calls professionally, offer advice and information.
  • Issue visitor and contractor passes, notify relevant staff or direct to meeting rooms.
  • Maintain a tidy reception area, update displays and notice boards.
  • Operate public address and access control systems, make announcements.
  • Implement security measures, monitor CCTV, report faults.
  • Help customers complete forms and photocopy documents.
  • Receive, sign for, and record hand-delivered mail and parcels, notify recipients.
  • Manage internal room bookings.
  • Handle cash desk transactions efficiently and politely, recording all income received.
  • Ensure cash handling, banking, and recording follow financial procedures.
  • Post income to the accounts system with correct codes and VAT rates.
  • Operate credit/debit card machines securely.
  • Prepare and reconcile daily bank lodgements, checking for counterfeit money.
  • Allocate payments to invoices and debtor accounts.
  • Support digitalisation of income transactions across various portals.

What you'll need to succeedA minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C) to include Maths and English or equivalent qualifications to demonstrate numeracy and literacyANDBe able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 2 years' experience working within a customer service environment, to include:

  • Dealing effectively with the general public;
  • Efficient use of computerised accounting packages; and
  • Effective cash handling, to include credit/debit card machine
