Key Responsibilities of a Residential Childcare Worker:

Build trusting and supportive relationships with the children and young people in your care
Assist with daily care, ensuring their safety and promoting a structured routine
Plan and participate in engaging recreational and educational activities
Encourage educational attainment and provide necessary support
Facilitate workshops, group activities, and life skills sessions to promote personal development, social skills, and decision-making
Collaborate with team members and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to care
Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and concerns
Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations in residential childcare

To Succeed in This Role, You Will Need:

Previous experience working with young people in a care setting in the UK
Knowledge of cognitive behavioural approaches, attachment theory, and child protection policy
The ability to demonstrate how your lived experiences have shaped your approach to care
Experience advocating on behalf of young people
Registration under the PVG scheme
A full driving licence
SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
